Enhancing your
English language skills plays an important role in your CELPIP preparation program. Since the CELPIP test measures your

must seek for various study tips and strategies that can help you overcome the
difficulties you might be experiencing to hone your English skills.
For test takers

below are seven practical ways on how to strengthen your English language
skills:

books
Books are your
best companion when it comes to learning a language. Creating a book plan is a
practical approach that most students prefer when reading books. To do this
effectively, plan which books you are going to read each week. Then, write down
all the unfamiliar words and phrases you have seen in each book. Consult the
dictionary to understand the meaning of each word or phrase.
2. Read
out loud
Whatever you
read, practice reading it out loud to help you identify what words you are
struggling to pronounce in the English language. Whenever you encounter hard to
pronounce words, always check the dictionary to get their correct
pronunciation.
3. Think
in English
Thinking in
English can speed up not only your mastery of the core language skills but also
your learning process. In your mind, talk to yourself in English. Translate every
conversation you have in your native language to the English language.
Translation also provides a better grasp of the language. Once you have
translated every native language expressions into the English language, you’ve
made terrific progress.
4. Listen
to the radio and watch movies
Watch any
random TV show or movies during your spare time. From watching American late
night shows to British films, you will be introduced to various pronunciations.
It’s pivotal to understanding every accent of various speakers, and only a TV
show or a film can do that for you. If you wish to focus solely on the English
language, listen to any radio programs because there are no visual
distractions.
5. Join
a web group
There are many
web-based discussion groups that you can join to improve your English. In a web
group, you can communicate with other test takers and discuss about the test
format, study and review tips, and different test-taking strategies that might
help hone your CELPIP training.
6. Listen
to music
Aside for
relaxing your mind and body, listening to music can also help sharpen your
English language skills. Pay attention to the lyrics of the songs and how it
was pronounced by the singer. Doing this enables you to boost your vocabulary
and pronunciation.
7. Download
an online dictionary
The online
dictionary offers immediate and direct access through large databases to a
word’s spelling, meaning, plus a host of ancillary information, including its
